China destinations
China will surprise its visitors in many ways, from the cool, cosmopolitan cities such as Beijing and Shanghai to the peaceful landscapes and rural culture in places like Guilin, Yangshuo and along the Tiger Leaping Gorge. It takes a while to get used to the different habits, manners and way of life we Westeners are used to.
But, once you do, the displays of China’s ancient history, culture and natural beauty are a truly unique experience. My preferred method of transport is the train, as the beds on the sleeper carriages are comfortable and you can see the landscapes changing slowly.
Ordering food in China is an experience by itself. Most of the time you will be looking at pixelated images of dishes that could literally contain anything; the Chinese cuisine uses practically every part of an animal. That said, during my three month stay I enjoyed some delicious food that can’t be found anywhere else in the world.
